"When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place." (Acts 2:1, NKJV)
"Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles." (Acts 2:41-43, NKJV)
"'Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, who we may appoint over this business.'" (Acts 6:3, NKJV)
"Then the word of God spread, and the number of disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith. (Acts 6:7, NKJV)
We encourage each Relaunch Team Member to help The Gathering Place be a community of people who actively engage in God's word together by participating in our Daily Devotional Bible Reading & Journaling.
The S.O.A.P. method is our guide to exercising our "spiritual muscles" on a daily basis.
Step 1: Read the Daily Bible Reading
Step 2: Reflect on the reading by journaling, using the S.O.A.P method
Step 3: Discuss your reflections with someone else at least once during the week
Download 2020 Daily Reading plan by clicking below. Our Relaunch Team is focusing on "The New Testament Plan" reading plan (the lefthand column on the download). It is one chapter per day.
In the "Solid Lives Reading Plan" (middle column) you will read the whole bible. It is 3 chapters per day. In the "One Two Plan" (right column) you will read the whole Bible once, and the New Testament twice.
The 2020 Solid Lives Journal is a great resource to help you follow along with our reading plan & to record your devotionals for your reflection throughout the year. It is available for sale at the link below.
As you read the passages, ask the Lord to bring to your attention to one part of the text in particular. Identify a verse that stood out to you amongst the others or that the Holy Spirit is speaking to you to focus on. Write the verse you identify in your journal.
Consider the verse that caught your attention. Take into context the setting and situation. Again, ask the Lord to reveal to you something you may have never seen in the text before. Make an observation--maybe about what's happening or who's affected. Write or paraphrase this observation down in your journal in a short paragraph.
Consider how you can apply the scripture you identified to your life. Maybe it’s encouragement, instruction, correction for an area of your life or revelation of a new promise. Ask yourself, "How will I be different today as a result of what I've just read?" Write a short paragraph about how you will put into practice what the Lord just showed you.
Close your personal devotion by writing out a sincere prayer to God. Express your heart concerning what you've journaled about, ask Him to help you apply what you've learned, and thank Him for the power of His word!
An essential element of the Relaunch Team is actively engaging in the word together. Sharing your devotional with another person is a powerful action that fulfills God's calling that we spread His word with others. And remember, in SOAP there is no right or wrong answers--rather it is an exercise to grow our "spiritual muscles" in hearing the Holy Spirit through God's word.
